Karen Blixen Museum, Giraffe Manor and Ostrich Park

At the foot of the Ngong Hills lies the home of Karen Blixen, the famous author whose memoirs were immortalized in the popular film "Out of Africa". It is now preserved as a museum where visitors can travel back in time and gain an insight into the life of this remarkable woman. Furniture, artifacts, and photographs from her days as a pioneer coffee farmer are on display.

Girraffe ManorAfterwards continue top the Giraffe Manor- a rare opportunity of literary coming face to face with Africa's tallest animal, the giraffe. Feed Daisy, the famous Rothschild giraffe and her family and learn about the success story of the once endangered Rothschild Giraffe. Entrance fee contributes to other conservation projects in Kenya.

A short distance to the nearby Ostrich Park provides the opportunity to see the breeding of ostriches from eggs to full grown-ups. This is a short trip that could take 3-4 hrs and can be taken in the morning or late afternoon.

The Carnivore Experience

Carnivore RestaurantA Brazilian style restaurant that offers a menu famous for exotic charcoal grilled meat including wild game such as crocodile, zebra, eland and wildebeest in addition to succulent lamb, beef, chicken and pork dishes all roasted on skewers over a huge wood fire. A must for meat lovers! With a wide variety of cuisine offered by restaurants in Nairobi, we recommend a dinner or lunch at the Carnivore. The restaurant also offers a vegetarian menu; the meal is an excellent complement to a holiday especially as a welcome or a farewell dinner.

Nairobi National Park

Nairobi National Park is a unique and unspoilt wildlife haven within sight of the city's skyline. Rhino, buffalo, cheetah, zebra, giraffe, lion and plenty of antelopes and gazelles can be seen roaming in this open plains country with a section of highland forest as well as stretches of broken bush country, deep, rocky valleys and gorges with scrub and long grass. There are over 300 bird species including the Secretary bird, crowned cranes, vultures, and peckers. Morning and afternoon tours can be arranged.

Bomas of Kenya

Bomas Of KenyaKenya is blessed with a diverse culture having over 40 tribes. With this insight, it is therefore unlikely that one would be able to transverse the expanse of Kenya to check out each of these cultures. But that doesn't have to be. Just a few kilometers from the city exists an attempt of creating a living museum of indigenous Kenyan life - The word Bomas is a Swahili word meaning (Homestead). Bomas of Kenya is a few kilometers from the city centre and has numerous "bomas" (homesteads) reflecting Kenya's cocktail of cultures have been re-created for visitors to experience the traditional village life of the People of Kenya. The highlight of this tour is the colorful display of folk dances from various tribes performed in a splendid arena and acrobats.
